The main aim of our research and study is to help elderly people and people with disabilities to achieve a higher quality of life as well as satisfaction with their life conditions and with their position within the society. This will be done by supporting their autonomy using the ambient intelligence and the development of broadband services within the Information Society of the EU, where the aging of the human population is becoming a serious problem in Europe. This paper deals with a partial research task carried out in the framework of the EU FP6 e-Inclusion project MonAMI. Automation of seniors' houses is one of the core services of the project MonAMI. The combination of wireless and 1-wire solutions for building an inclusive home environment for seniors is considered as an acceptable solution, especially in new EU countries such as Slovakia is. The authors describe experimental solutions that were tested in their labs. The main goal is to achieve an accessible price and minimalisation of adaptations.
