We have been working on a real-time tourism guidance system to improve the tourist's satisfaction in sightseeing. In this system, participatory sensing is leveraged to collect real-time sightseeing contents or data. The amount and quality of data collected in participatory sensing depend on the user's contribution. Therefore, gamification is generally utilized as an incentive mechanism. Few existing studies addressed the appropriateness of the gamification design or target tourists. In this paper, we design a gamification mechanism consisting of two types of sensing tasks and three types of rewarding methods and implement the mechanism in our participatory sensing platform called ParmoSense. We conducted a sightseeing experiment supposing three different user types. As a result, we confirmed that some type of tourists (participants) can collect sightseeing information while enjoying sightseeing through behavior change.
