In this paper, we present MAMA — an architecture for interactive musical agents. This system uses a theory of Musical Acts, based on Speech Act Theory to support the agents interaction. We discuss the basics of a representation language which these agents can use to represent and reason about music. We present a case study system based on these ideas, and discuss its ability to support distributed execution of a minimalist score.
Audio recordings of the system are available at http://homepages.inf.ed.ac.uk/s0239182/MAMA
