We developed a prototype music instrument system using the motion capture. In this system, the performer plays music in the virtual space. The virtual theremin system consists of the image capture, measuring performer's position, detecting and recognizing motions and synthesizing sound system using the personal computer. In this paper, we describe the method of 3D measuring using a single camera for tracking user's position and the cyber music instrument system.
