Many parties are involved in the health business: The family doctor, specialists and their assistants, hospital administration, billing institutions and public and private social insurance suppliers. All these parties are struggeling against the customer’s disease while competing for shares of the market at the same time. Information about patients are protected by law worldwide. This arcabun (the confidentiality of medical data) is socially accepted and guarrantees the protection of the patient’s privacy. At the same time it is guaranteed that personal data about patients are not abused in the power struggle in the health market. The use of smart cards can be a threat to the privacy of patients, thus violating the arcanum.
