MAGNOBRAIN is an applied research project which has been designed to integrate known radiological, anatomical and electrophysiological information about the human brain for use in localization of brain activity. The main aspects of MAGNOBRAIN include a mathematical approach to source localization which makes use of a priori information about the brain, the building of the Brain DataBase (BDB) which contains a multitude of data about the brain, and the development of software tools for Magnetic Resonance Image processing and for 3D visualization. It is expected that these tools will evolve into a virtual medical environment which will allow interactive navigation through the brain, as well as easy and inexpensive access to a huge amount of medical information.
