During the last decades an array of reading aids have been developed for visually handicapped individuals (talking books, optical and electronic-optical aids, computer based aids). A characteristic feature in rehabilitation of visually handicapped in Sweden has been the rapid development of low vision rehabilitation, low vision clinics and especially low vision training methodology. No national assessment of the impact of aids and training programmes has been undertaken so far.
The purpose of the project is to undertake such an assessment and to develop efficient reading technique for individuals with different kinds of visual problems with a special view on reading research from a behavioural approach.
