The care-arrangement “Attention Care” is aimed at supporting lonely persons and the care-arrangement “Monitoring of Behavior” is aimed at providing surveillance at a distance to support the care-giving relative of a dementia patient. Both care arrangements use video telephony to communicate with professional caregivers. In February 2005 field trials started, these continued until January 2007. Evaluation of data gathered during this trial will be discussed.
The service “Attention Care” is delivered to 17 clients. The service is highly approved by home-care workers; it enables them to actively support clients. The service “Monitoring Behavior” is delivered to 11 clients and is highly approved by some of the partners/caregivers. It enables them to maintain their own activities to some extent, knowing that their partner is under proper surveillance. The relief gained enables them to continue. To home care workers the delivery of the monitoring behavior product is a rather passive process. They find this service rewarding as well. Details of the outcome are discussed in terms of the conditions needed to implement new care products in a successful way.
