It is estimated that the continuous flight auger piles currently represent about 75% of the market for deep foundations for buildings in Recife. Therefore, it is essential to know the performance of such piles, in order to optimize the design of foundations. This paper presents a case history of construction of a shopping center in Recife, whose foundation was about 4,000 continuous flight auger piles with 20 to 25m deep. The results of 40 static load tests are presented and analyzed, including comparisons with predictions from usual semi-empirical methods. At the end, it is proposed a method to obtain the load-settlement curve for continuous flight auger piles.
