Glass can be connected with UHPC in terms of direct bonding contact. Structures built according to this technology are elegant and highly transparent but beyond that they provide robustness similar to reinforced concrete. This paper focuses on the fundamental mechanics of the bonding connection, which is the key element of this building method. The design and assembling concepts are explained by means of some prospective applications and an interesting pilot project. It is an 18.5 m high noise barrier planned as standing folded plate. Finally, a detailed outlook about an experimental programme concerning durability and fatigue of the bonding glass-UHPC connection is given.
