A communication model and a support system for so called scheduled learning in e-learning scenarios are presented. Scheduled learning is a new paradigm that is mainly based on a tight time structure (schedule) of an e-learning process. The term ‘scheduled’ refers to a precise and detailed placement of learning and teaching acts within one education arrangement. Numerous scheduled learning scenarios have been analysed. As a result, a set of elementary communication patterns has been discovered and shaped. Based on these communication patterns and corresponding communication technology, reference communication processes can be created to be carried out depending on the chosen teaching method. A support system helps to control and monitor these processes.
