Abstract

A digital x-ray imaging system consisting of microfocus x-ray apparatus, image intensifier, framegrabber, and PC has been extended to work as a computerised transaxial microtomograph by adding an object turntable and some acquisition and reconstruction software. The microtomograph has been applied to the examination of extracted teeth for improvement of the understanding of caries progression in 3D.
