The well known, wheelchair mounted, Rehabilitation Robot “Assistive Robotic Manipulator” (ARM) assists disabled people with a severe handicap at their upper limbs. This paper presents and discusses the technical redesign of the ARM, which resulted in the new robot named iARM. The improved efficiency and effectiveness of the iARM is demonstrated by experiments.
