For vision rehabilitation and research is a detailed enumeration and classification of concepts of visual perception desirable. An enumeration of visual functions, visual basic skills and aspects of the attitude towards visual impairments and disabilities is made. This enumeration is ordered in accordance with the proposals for amending the International Classification of Impairments, Disabilities and Handicaps (ICIDH), originated with the Dutch Foundation for Research and Postgraduate Education in Physical Therapy (SWSF). Amendments from colleagues of different professions in rehabilitations are made. Through application on a small scale in visual profiles of clients this classification is verified on usefulness in rehabilitation. This way a classification of visual impairments, disabilities and handicaps has been developed, which can be applied in the rehabilitation process. This article gives a briefly sketch of the main categories in a visual profile and an illustration by means of a case. It also refers to possibilities of application in investigation, rehabilitation diagnosis and a rehabilitation programme.
