It is likely to assume that in future traffic organisation and traffic planning everything will be done to encourage elderly and handicapped to take part in social life. I.e., traffic and transport structures will have to be such that they can be used by these groups. However, to those members of society that have difficulties to take part in traffic for individual reasons (disease, mobility handicaps, etc.) several types of support can be given. One important area in this respect is tele-communication. With the help of new technology in this area the requirements of elderly and disabled persons can be met in a very specific way with respect to various scenarios of life. Several VTX-systems exist in Europe already that offer a large number of services. However, there is some evidence that knowledge about these services is not good at all, especially among the groups we want to address in this present context. Moreover, the use of the system is very often a difficult task that needs good explanation and guiding. In this respect, several short-comings can be identified. Our aim is to look upon these problems as a main concern for experts that develop and implement different tele-communication services. Especially as far as information to potential users of services on all levels is concerned, much work has to be done. Among other things, these experts should be better trained and instructed in order to be able to meet the information needs of customers.
