This study aimed to comprehensively analyze the types of joint cigarettes and the structure and working principle of the joint detector and exclusion device of the original equipment to identify specific reasons for the inability of the ZJ19 cigarette crimper [1] to effectively detect and exclude joint cigarettes. An implementation plan was determined through repeated experiments and numerous discussions. A built-in joint detector was designed and installed to address the inability of the original equipment to detect built-in joints [2], keeping the original joint detector unchanged [3], thus ensuring the detection of all joints. A filter was installed in the exclusion air path to address the issue of missing exclusion of splicing joint cigarettes during the production process, and improvements were made to the material of the removal block, reducing the failure rate of the excluded part. The addition of a secondary exclusion function further ensured the exclusion of all joint cigarettes, thereby improving product quality
