

The study of reliability and stability issues of residential buildings and industrial installations are relevant because of possible considerable material losses due to partial disruption of their integrity or destruction. The foundation of building plays the key role in building stability and in their durability. The design of foundation for an industrial building is considered in the article. Engineering and geological conditions of the construction site are evaluated; foundation options with regards to the ground conditions are planned. The shallow foundation in the form of separate sections for frame-building columns is considered. The following major aspects affecting the foundation performance are taken into account in the process of its designing and calculating: engineering, geological and hydrological conditions; the pattern and the value of external loads; environmental conditions; the purpose of the building and its structure etc. The design values of soil resistance for all the base layers as function of the foundation depth is presented in the diagram. The calculation scheme based on the layer-by-layer summation method is described in the article. The values of vertical stresses, applied to the boundaries of elementary layers in the vertical direction passing through the center of the foundation base, have been found. The foundation stability has been proved in the process of calculations. This article contributes to the expertise in design of structures and in foundation settlement calculation based on layer-by-layer summation method.
