A technique is presented by us for fixing barcodes that have been obscured or damaged. The successful decoding of barcodes is critical to the subsequent operations of related industries, but it is often subject to unintentional damage or occlusion, which seriously affects its decoding and is a common challenging scenario in industries such as logistics and retail. The innovation of this research is to use the improved Criminisi algorithm to repair the broken one-dimensional barcode. Our experiments on the self-made broken barcode dataset demonstrate the effectiveness and robustness of the method. The decoder can decode the repaired barcode, and the decoding rate of the repaired barcode can reach 94.23%. Compared with the original data, the character consistency rate after decoding is 93.27%. It shows a wide application prospect in the fields of logistics, shopping, and the like.
