Due to the usage requirements, the structural transition of six outer frame columns is necessary at the vertical set-back position in a super high-rise staggered building. Commonly-used transition forms include beam transition, truss transition, lapping column transition, and transition by diagonal bracing. Compared with the other three schemes, the transition by diagonal bracing was adopted. The key members of the structure with transition by diagonal bracing are upper and lower beams, upper and lower columns, and diagonal braces. Mechanical behaviors analysis was conducted on the key members under moderate and rare earthquakes, and then feasible design strengthening measures were proposed. In addition, two connection schemes of staggered beam and column were selected for comparison to analyze the adverse effects of staggered stories, and calculations were conducted on the in-plane and out-of-plane bearing capacity of the staggered wall. The analysis results show that the structural design of the super high-rise staggered building can meet the requirements of the building codes and the anticipated seismic performance objectives.
