Structures that have components that require particularly strong strengthening without the use of large amounts of material use grid stiffened structures, modified for the purposes of the single application the structure is utilised in. Modern grid stiffened structures have evolved and deployed advanced materials, designs and manufacturing techniques. Due to the additive manufacturing boom in industries, any such structures manufactured with the use of metals is significantly cheaper when using superalloys for complex structures, counteract the limitations of composite materials and are kinder on the environment. The premise of this paper is to observe the response behaviour of such grid stiffened structures under vertical compression tests and seeks to find stress and strain characteristics on both static structural analyses done on ANSYS mechanical workbench. Moreover, it lays out the foundation of subsequent optimization scopes.
