Abstract

We propose a new classification of positional numeral systems with positive bases represented by either fixed numbers or by functions. The simplest functions used are the factorial and binomial ones. The proposed classification comprises all existing numeral systems with both uniform and non-uniform numbers, as well as possible new systems that could be developed in the future.
