Abstract

This paper describes the traditional alla turca Turkish toilet, or squat toilet, as well as its more modern sitting version, and the hygiene etiquette in using the toilet, including the pros and cons of the squatting posture and the squat toilet. This is complemented with modern design solutions for these two types of toilets.
