This study reveals the advantage of using gallium as a solder for brazing aluminium, since the process enables to braze at ambient air without flux. Indeed gallium descales the alumina layer and acts as a barrier against further reoxidation. Nevertheless, two main operations are necessary to perform this brazing process efficiently:
The gallium coating must be done mechanically so as to dsecale the oxide layer.
The roughness of the aluminium surface must be low enough.
