Smart clothes offer the ability to record patient vital signs within the home environment in an unobtrusive manner. In our current work we have developed a suite of computational models which can be used to support the selection and positioning of ECG electrodes in entire body surface potential assessment. This approach can be applied within the design of smart clothes and be guided by practical constraints associated with, in the first instance the fabrication of the clothing and in the second instance from a disease specific perspective. With such an approach we are able to suggest the numbers and positioning of ECG electrodes to ensure acceptable cardiac information can be recorded and used for clinical assessment.
