In the process of traditional Principal Component Analysis (PCA) based on the construction of multiple process capability index (MPCI), principal components mainly consider process variation, but not the process capability fully, which indicates that the determination of principal component contribution degree is not reasonable sufficiently. To solve the problem, we proposed a new evaluation method of preprocessing data before constructing MPCI using PCA. Firstly, we standardized the specification interval of quality characteristics. Secondly, we calculated the multivariate process capability indexes. Finally, the method was applied to evaluate the process capability analysis of a domestic gear box. Compared with the evaluation result of traditional method, effectiveness and feasibility of the method are proved.
