The competitive advantage that drove business organizations to automate most of their processes into systems and applications nowadays requires them to migrate these systems to cloud services in order to realize the benefits of cost reduction, access to top-end IT capabilities, reduction of processing and task time, sharing, backup and recovery, and scalability. Recently, it has been possible to implement enterprise resource planning (ERP) systems via cloud platforms, along with other business applications. However, despite the challenges, there are factors that could successfully support organizations in implementing cloud-based ERP. The implementation phase of cloud-based ERP has an impact on the subsequent phases of an ERP system: exploring the factors that help organizations to implement cloud-based ERP effectively is therefore crucial. This study was based on an electronic survey that resulted in valid responses from technology organizations in developed and developing countries. The results revealed that participants consider the main success factors during cloud-based ERP implementation as top management support, alignment of IT with business, readiness of organization, data quality, and excellent project management. This paper focuses on exploring these success factors, which could either facilitate or hinder the possible challenges.
