In this work, infrared thermography was introduced to explore the capability for detecting defects in the industrial nozzle. To this goal, an industrial nozzle was begun with the detection using infrared thermography, followed by the x-ray computer tomography to validate the results obtained by infrared thermography. Then the corresponding detection results of the nozzle were obtained and the comparative analysis on the detection results was carried out. The obtained results shows that the infrared thermography can be applied to detect the defect in the nozzle effectively and the detection result is obtained quickly using infrared thermography, which paves the way for the industrial application of infrared thermography technology on the large complex aeronautical structures.
