An independent energy generation cell is proposed. This cell is composed by a biodiesel production microplant, which is coupled to a 4kVA Diesel generator. Residual frying oil is used as raw material to produce the biodiesel. It was verified that the system is a solution for decentralized energy generation, suitable for cooperatives and small rural communities. Also, it can be an income source for economically/socially vulnerable communities, through the establishment of cooperatives to collect the residual frying oil and produce biodiesel and derivatives as glycerin. Regarding environmental aspects, this power generation cell provides a way to correctly dispose a pollutant urban waste. This work concerns the development of a prototype and a test bench, which constitutes a multidisciplinary project, serving as a laboratory for research, learning and integrating different industrial technologies.
