Automobile reuse parts are recovered from end-of-life vehicles and are commercialized by visual checking and cleaning. Generally, reusing parts can reduce the cost, material consumption, and environmental load. However, as the value and performances of automobile reuse parts are lower than those of the new parts, reusing automobile parts is not always advisable from the viewpoint of the product value, environmental impact, and cost throughout the entire life cycle. This study proposes appropriate repair options for customers (reuse parts or new parts) over the entire life cycle of their automobiles. The combined value, environmental impact, and cost of the product are comprehensively assessed by the total performance evaluation index. As a case study, the paper discusses an appropriate repair option based on the scheduled use period of a customer's automobile engine after repair.
