Weibo is one of the most popular Chinese social media services. The literature has shown that social media have potential to empower people with disabilities. However, digital accessibility is a new area in China and very few studies have focused on the accessibility of Chinese social media services. This research aims to evaluate the accessibility of Weibo for people with visual impairments. A survey, interviews and user testing were used to identify accessibility issues of Weibo. On the basis of the findings, recommendations are made to improve accessibility.
