Traditional human pulse detection usually needs to surround the arm or take pressure on human body, but it is inconvenient for injured patients. The main goal of this paper is to measure the human heartbeat without any pressure. A laser speckle fingerprint recognition system has been proposed for human heartbeat measurement. The proposed system pre-processes the laser speckle image with Butterworth filter to enhance the quality and edge of the fingerprint, and calculates the relations between a set of images with 2D correlation method in order to predict the pulse rate. According to the experiments, the proposed system achieves a high-accuracy of the pulse rate measurement and could assist in observing the human heartbeat effectively.
