Medical images diagnosis is important in the pathological diagnosis, such as determining tumor and tumor proliferative vascular, nerve root, brain hemorrhage. An efficient contrast enhancement technique named ALRHS for medical images is proposed in this paper. This method can wide the space of the dedicated gray level to increase the brightness difference among the pixels in the range by merging the gray levels that are not selected. In addition to enhance the quality of the medical images by the proposed method, the algorithm is also suitable for implementing by hardware. This study built a hardware platform based on FPGA circuit to enhance video imagestream in real time for modern medical equipments. The platform can help physicians to make more accurate diagnosis by tuning the range of gray level that they interested in an image.
