Web spamming is a serious universal problem, which causes web information security problems, reduces the Web quality, and damages users' legal benefits by misleading search engines to increase the rank of some web pages than they deserved. Web spam detection is a classification problem. This paper discusses an Artificial Immune System-based method (WSD-AIS) to combat web spam. In this approach, a Web spam is an invading antigen and the detection model represented by a set of mature antibodies can discover the Web spam by artificial immune mechanism. Besides, features are carefully chosen for improving the performance. Our experiment results show that the proposed solution is more robust than Naïve Bayes in terms of the imbalance data set and can achieve satisfied performance with relative fewer features. WSD-AIS approach is able to detect much more spammed Web hosts than Naïve Bayes.
