The paper aims to show the possible impact of design for all (DfA) in the development of future ambient intelligent (AMI) environments and the possible role of networked stakeholders. It takes notice of the general technological development and the needs of users in the future. Ambient assisted living is used as an example of current AMI focus and connects the ideas with design for all. It identifies collective intelligence as one of the future key concepts leading to the need for intensified networking. Finally, it starts the discussion on the development of networking based on the European Design for All eAccessibility Network (EDeAN).
