At the Hospital of Geneva, conceptual graphs (CG) have been applied successfully to extract and represent semantic information from medical texts. In the context of the European AIM project Galen, the Galen Master Notation (MN) based on a semantic network representation is being developed, and the need to interface the two knowledge representations - the Galen MN and CG - has emerged. This paper reports on a first experiment which shows that the mapping between these two representations is feasible, and on the development of an interface conversion module which enables an automatic translation from one representation to the other. The process of relating these two representation methods brings relevant issues for modelling and representing medical terminology which are also discussed in this paper.
