This paper highlights the importance of reliability studies for systems where high reliability is a must. The common cause failure concept is introduced and studied due to its relevancy. A simple hypothetical control system is used to illustrate the methodology. Fault tree is used to assess the reliability of the workbench system. The comparison between different tests shows the importance of common cause failure.
