Skirted foundations are a viable solution for subsea structures in most offshore developments. In an attempt to estimate long term settlements of skirted foundations installed in soft clays, this paper presents results of numerical consolidation analyses in which a remoulded zone adjacent to the skirted foundation wall is accounted for. In particular the effects of thickness, strength and stiffness of this zone are investigated. The calculated settlement values indicate that without taking into account the remoulded zone the long term settlement might be understimated.
