This paper describes a coordinated scoring system for all aspects of vision loss: impairment (of the organ), disability (of the person) and handicap (social and economic consequences). The system is based on a general classification of disability, which can be applied to different impairments, whether visual or non-visual. The system is consistent with existing classifications such as in ICD9-CM and can replace systems such as AMA / Snell-Sterling / Esterman. A prototype automated version has been implemented on the Humphrey Field Analyzer.
